Scene Safety and Assessment

1. Before approaching the victim, make sure that the scene is safe

2. A CPR victim has to be non-responsive, not breathing and no pulse.

Chest Compressions

1. Do 30 compressions each cycle at a depth of 2 to 2.4 inches, allowing the chest to recoil after each compression. Remember to push hard and fast.

2. Remember to count loud to keep track of your 30 compressions. This is also help if you have a 2nd rescuer to know when it's time to give breaths

3. One cycle of CPR is 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths.

Airway & Breathing

1. Remember, when no barrier device (e.g. bag mask or face mask) is available, do "hands only" CPR.

2. Open the airway by by using the "head tilt and chin lift.

3. Give 2 breaths watching for chest rise. Deliver each breath for over 1 second.

4. If there's no chest rise after the first attempt, adjust the mask and reposition the head.

5. If there's no chest rise after the second attempt, proceed to compressions.
